Trip Planning

TOTAL TRAVEL TIME

16 days round trip from the US. Arrive in Kathmandu no later than Sunday evening May 14th (departing Saturday, May 13th from US) and depart from Kathmandu (KTM) no sooner than the evening of Saturday, May 27th, 9:30 PM (arriving back in the US Sunday, May 28th) It is not possible to make exceptions to this time frame as we will have a full program schedule each day and unable to accommodate different schedules.

 

AIR TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

Once the trek is confirmed, make your international travel reservations promptly and send your itinerary to Clint Sidle at ccs7@Cornell.edu. We recommend that you consider travel insurance, in case something unforeseen happens.

 

ARRIVAL INFORMATION

We will meet your flight with ground transportation any time if you arrive on Sunday, May14.  If you want to arrive early, we can help you with a reservation at the PRK Guest House. It is not difficult to get a pre-paid taxi from the airport, which is located on the same side of town.

 

PASSPORT

You will need this.

VISA

Purchase with cash at the airport in Kathmandu. Need 2 passport photos with you at that time. Single entry visa for 15/30/90 days costs US$25/40/100

 

IMMUNIZATIONS

Recommended immunizations by CDC (routine vaccinations, HepA, Typhoid. Anti-malaria not needed at our locations): http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/nepal

 

MEDICAL INSURANCE

You will be required to have your own medical insurance. (Check with the policy you have right now. Usually these policies will cover you in Nepal. If not, travel insurance with medical coverage is not very expensive.)

 

CONFERENCE CALL

The entire group will have an opportunity to discuss any questions during one or two conference calls that will be scheduled.
